Mahindra Thar 2WD launched in India at Rs 9.99 lakh
The Mahindra Thar is now available in rear-wheel drive configuration. The Thar RWD is available in two variants – AX (O) and LX, with prices starting at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Thar RWD is available with two engine options. These include the D117 1.5-litre diesel engine, which has been introduced on the Thar for the first time. It produces 117 BHP and 300 Nm and comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The other option is the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol that makes 150 BHP and 320 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Mahindra has also made some changes to the Thar 4WD. It now comes with an electronic brake locking differential, which is expected to enhance its all-terrain capabilities even further.
The 2023 Mahindra Thar comes with new accessory packs that include armrests with built-in storage, a rear armrest with cup holders and USB charging ports. The Thar RWD is only available with the Hard Top and comes in two new colours: Blazing Bronze and Everest White.

- AX (O) Diesel MT – Rs. 9.99 lakh
- LX Diesel MT – Rs. 10.99 lakh
- LX Petrol AT – Rs. 13.49 lakh
The introductory prices are applicable on the first 10,000 bookings. Deliveries of the RWD variants will begin on January 14, 2023.
